Chinese Zodiac: The Year of the Ox

Under the Chinese zodiac, Lucas will be born in the year of the Ox. Here is what I've found on Oxes:

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2009 is the Year of the Ox. The Ox, or the Buffalo sign symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Those born under the influence of the Ox or Buffalo are fortunate to be stable and persevering. The typical Ox is a tolerant person with strong character. Not many people could equal the resolution and fearlessness that the Ox exhibits when deciding to accomplish a task. Ox people work hard without complaints at work or at home. They know that they will succeed through hard work and sustained efforts, and do not believe in get-rich-quick schemes.

Did I Mention He's Walking Now?

It only took 16 months for him to get the courage to let go of Momma's (or anyone's) hand and take off on his own, but once he did, he was off! This is a toy he got at Christmas from Gramma and Grandpa. Before he'd sit in the floor and roll it back and forth in front of him, now it's one of his favorite toys to just drag around with him.




For the record, we are considering Sunday April, 5th as his first time walking.

Little Monkey

Brad and I have been shopping here and there to prepare for Lucas' arrival. The day we found out Lucas was a he, we picked out his nursery bedding. This is what we chose:



So every since then, I've been referring to Lucas as my Little Monkey, because we all know his big brother, Colin is my Little Man.

Grandpa Baby

Colin goes through phases of only wanting the attention of one of the adults in his life, more often than not it is Grandpa that he desires...and there's nothing wrong with that when you've got one heck of a Grandpa :)

Grandpa sometimes comes to get Colin after he's woken from his nap and takes him shopping, giving Momma a couple hours of break. In this video, Colin had just woken up and Grandpa was on his way to get him. Momma was putting his shoes on and telling him that he was going to go spend the afternoon with Grandpa.

Grand Easter Weekend!

Egg Hunt One: GG's Church

GG attends a small church and invited us to join their egg hunt on Saturday morning. Colin was the smallest by 3 years, so they gave him his own patch of grass and eggs. Gramma, Grandpa, Gramma L, GG, Momma and Dadda were all armed with cameras and helping hands. He saw the eggs as we were coming in, so he was ready to go! We were pretty surprised at how well he did. He went right for the eggs and after Momma showed him to put the eggs in his basket, he knew just what to do.

Egg Hunt Two: At Home

Later that afternoon, we decided to go ahead and have an egg hunt for him at home. Rain was forecasted for Sunday (Easter) so we went ahead with the hunt Saturday in our backyard. The same crew came over to help him out, and he had a grand time!

Easter Sunday: The Goods

Today all the Grammas and Grandpa came over for Easter lunch and to give Colin some goodies. He got an Easter basket from Gramma and Grandpa, then one from Momma and Dadda, and a third from GG. We hid them around the living room and he found them pretty quickly. Amongst other things he got a camera (toy) and telephone from Gramma and Grandpa, some Sesame Street figurines, and a cool book and sunglasses from GG. He got lots of goodies (candy!) that he took full advantage of. He's also been learning to use a spoon, so when eating some dessert with GG he had his own spoon, but that wasn't enough, so he stole her spoon too!
