Baker Update

Last week I had a cold and by the end of the week, just as I was feeling better, Brad got it. We think Colin may have had a mild form of it, he had a little runny nose and a slight cough, but never ran a fever nor was he overly fussy.

He's been doing really well on his tummy time and actually had me fooled for a bit one day, I just KNEW he was about to roll over for the first time, I even had the camcorder going, but alas he didn't do it. He's been out growing clothes left and right, he's getting so big! He's still doing a great job on his sleeping still, sleeping anywhere from 6-9 hours at the initial stretch and then 3-4 hours the second stretch, which is usually about when we get up. He usually goes to bed right around 7:30 and is up every morning around 7:30.

He seems to like our routine too, we wake up and have some play time for a little bit, including tummy time, then he's a good boy and sits in his swing, or on his play mat, or in his bouncy chair while momma eats breakfast and gets him some more food. Then he takes a bath and gets dressed for the day and then we sit down and he eats a bottle, which will put him to sleep for a little while, letting momma get some things done, and sometimes sleeps long enough for me to eat lunch. Then he wakes up and eats another bottle and we have a good long play time. We read a book in the afternoons, sometimes two, and if the weather is nice we'll go out or go for a walk around the block. He'll take cat naps in the afternoon, but is pretty much awake from that point until bed time at 7:30.

Now that Colin is 3 1/2 months old I'd like to start teaching him sign language. I know three so far: milk, eat, and more. A friend of ours who is studying child development in school (Erin) suggested a book for us to use. She said a baby can have a sign language vocabulary of up to 100 words by the time they are 1 year old and that Colin is the perfect age to start teaching him. So, I'm going to try and get the book this week. I'll keep you all posted on his progress.

He's also doing really well with his head, he is no longer a bobble head. He can also now sit up in his Bumbo chair with no support from me. He's cooing and smiling away these days.

As for Brad and I, were doing pretty well. We are still doing Jenny Craig and he's now lost 11 pounds and I've lost 13 1/2 after 8 weeks. We've joined a gym and have been doing really well. I'm very proud of him.

The house is almost complete! They are done with the kitchen, guest room and down stairs bath, finally. They should be coming back in the next 2 weeks to turn the butler area into a wet bar and put in a new counter top and cabinets to match the new kitchen. We also plan to replace the front door and windows next. All I can say is it is so nice to live in a clean house and not worry about workers coming in and out every day! As soon as everything is complete, I'll have pictures up for you all. I may even do a video. And of course we'll have a party for everyone to come and see!

That's all I have on the Bakers for now. I'm going to be posting a video everyday this week. I've got a lot of them stored up that I've been taking over the past few weeks that I'd like to share. So check back often!
