Monthly Newsletter: Month Three

Dear Louie Bear,

Yes, you were given an equally embarrassing nickname. I was calling you this, to Dada's chagrin, even before you were born.

You have had a much busier start to your life than your big brother did. You are a little monkey on the go! We do a lot of shopping together, most of which you sleep through, but every once in awhile you will ride in the cart or your stroller and watch as things whiz by or just stare straight at me, I tell you all the things were looking for.

You've been rolling over since you were about 6 weeks old, and are just recently starting to protest tummy time. You do however love to play in your exerciser and your jumper, you've got the strong legs to prove it. I'm watching you as I type this, playing in your exerciser, looking at the sun and smiling. Just like your older brother, you love the star on the mat too, but you aren't as vocal with your love, you just stare wide eyed in amazement at it's changing colors.

My favorite thing you do is the one eyebrow raise. Sometimes, instead of a smile your eyes get real big and you raise just your right eyebrow, as if to say, "Are you for real?" It's just about the cutest thing I've ever seen!

For your first Halloween you were a monkey (imagine that). The costume was adorable, and you did really well in it, not fussy at all!

You are a big monkey, weighing in just a little over a week ago at 15.9 pounds, already doubling your birth weight. You are even already wearing clothes in the 6-9 month sizing, mainly for your long length more than your weight though.

You definitely look like your Dada. Everyone says so. It's funny, but you and Colin look a lot alike, but he favors me, I'm so looking forward to watching you grow and see how you change.

That brings me to my favorite part of the day. When you wake up. I hear you cooing and talking to yourself, asking me to come get you, I bend over your crib and you see my face and give me the best biggest smiles when I say "Good morning, Lucas." I love your bright morning smile, it's one of the best parts of each day for your Momma.

When I was pregnant with you, I truly worried how I could hold enough love for you and your brother, if I really was capable. It only took seeing your beautiful face on that day 3 months ago and I knew I was. I am capable of so much love, and I try to show you everyday.

Love,
Momma

Beautiful...and Spit On

My very talented and sweet friend, Sherri, made these for Lucas and I. They are burp cloths, and I hate to use them they are so pretty!

Cute Kid

Colin was petting LuLu and pointing to her body parts, and I was naming each of them. He got to the paws on her feet and I said, "paws." So he points to another one and says "ma." I just giggled.

Fun Day at the Park

2 Month Check Up

It's official: Lucas is a big boy! We had his 2 month checkup Monday and he weighed in at 12 lbs 11 ounces, putting him in the 75th percentile. He was 24 inches long, which is the 80th percentile. The doctor was very happy with his physical strength too, especially his neck, back and legs. So happy for my little monkey!

Quarterly Newsletter: Months 19-21

Dear Colin,

I'm so sorry that this is so late, but you have a new little brother who came just as this letter was due to you. So, I'm sure you understand how busy I've been with you both. But, alas, I have some quiet time to sit down and write this letter to you.

July: Month 19

July saw your first "real" July 4th. Last year, you were too young to really appreciate everything. This year, you LOVED the fireworks, laughing, and shouting "more." It made our holiday more fun.

This month you had a few new words and a few new foods. You ate a cherry for the first time, and really enjoyed them, you also had your first snow cone, a cherry one, and loved it too! You have forced us to learn your language, Colin speak. For instance: "nice" means "snack"; "budda" means "blanky"; "ba" means "banana"; and "ice" means "outside."

We took you to an outdoor water park for the first (and second) time and you had a blast running through the fountains. The water park had a great kiddie pool, only a foot and a half deep, so you were able to frolick as you pleased. After a while, you were more interested in stealing cheetos from a woman sitting just outside the pool feeding her kids. You went over and took one from her, twice.

You handed me my most embarassing moment as a parent thus far one morning at story time at the library. We were all sitting in a circle and you ran into the middle of the circle. You stood there for a minute to listen to the teacher and then all of a sudden just pulled your pants down. All the moms just laughed, but I turned bright red, and pulled you over to me and pulled them back up immediately. Oh, Colin.

Eating cake at Nolan's 2 year birthday party.

We also took you for your first professional haircut. You weren't too thrilled, but were a good boy for the most part. You got lollipops and had four adults singing Elmo songs to you the whole time. As a special treat after wards we took you out for ice cream!

August: Month 20

You attended your first "prom" this month. You even had a date...two in fact...twins. You are such a little stud, lol. It was a toddler prom with our mommies group, and all of our friends were there. We danced, had snacks and played in bubbles. You got a souvenir photo with the girls too.

Your prom dates, Camden and Grayden.

Of course the biggest news in August was the sooner-than-expected birth of your baby brother. So you spent a few days with Gramma and Grandpa, being spoiled as always.

Giving Momma kisses, and meeting Bubba for the first time.

We wanted to get you something special to help ease the fact that you had to share the spotlight with Lucas, so we got you a new toy car that you could drive yourself. Dada even put a bumper sticker on it for you. It's a Wiggles one we got at the concert last month and you love it.

Your Wiggles bumper sticker.

September: Month 21

Giving Bubba goodnight kisses, which you do most nights now.

We enrolled you into the Little Gym program Saturday mornings. We had taken you to a few free classes over the past few months and you always had a great time. We decided this would be a good way for us to have at least an hour a week where you got all the attention, special Dada or Momma and you time.

You love to help carry Bubba in his car seat.

You also got into the football season with Dada this month. He's been looking forward to it and the day of the first game, you said "football." And just like your Dada, the game gets all your attention when it's on the TV.

Love,
Momma

Sweet Sweet Sleep

Great news! Lucas slept six straight hours for the first time last night. I only had to get up with him once versus our normal three times a night. He's right on track with his big brother who also slept six hours straight at 8 weeks. So hopefully we are in for some nice sleep filled nights for us both!

I'm Getting There, I Promise

I know, I need to post. And I'm almost 2 months past due on a newsletter. So this is my public promise, I'll be posting some great news, videos and pictures of our little Coly Bear soon!

Growing Up So Fast...

My little monkey is only 6 weeks and 5 days old, and he rolled over for the first time today!

He was getting his tummy time in on his new play mat on the floor and just rolled himself right over.

Widget!

A few weeks ago we took Colin to his first "concert." The Wiggles were in town and we had the opportunity to get tickets in a suite and for half price, we were treated like royalty, and had a great time! Colin got a lot more out of it than we thought he might. He got a new Wiggles t-shirt to commemorate the day. He would point to the stage and scream "Widget!" (his word for Wiggles). It was really a great time, and one I'm kinda sad he won't remember when he gets older. At least he'll have this to help.
